The Accreditation status of a facility is determined by the Accreditation Awards Committee (AAC) once all the Accreditation modules and the site visit have been completed.

All facility documentation including self-study submissions and surveyors' reports are reviewed by the Accreditation Awards Committee to determine the facility's overall degree of compliance with the standards.

Accreditation Awards:
4 Year Accreditation Award with Commendation (Highest Award)
The clinic or facility that achieves 100% substantial compliance for all standards in all submitted modules and the verification site visit, with a strong indication that many of the criteria have been met is awarded a four-year accreditation. There is clear evidence during the site visit of a strong organization-wide commitment to and application of the principles of continuous quality improvement and client-centred care. In addition, information, financial management and the rights of clients and personnel are safeguarded. Excellence in practice is obvious and the service has established a benchmark for others.

3 Year Accreditation Award
The clinic or facility that meets or surpasses all of the standards and is operating in a consistent, progressive manner is awarded a three-year accreditation. This means that the clinic/facility achieves 85% substantial compliance with all standards; less than 15% are partially compliant with clear evidence of work in progress; and the facility receives no minimal or noncompliant ratings. All ratings must be confirmed at the site visit.

1 Year Accreditation Award with Follow-up Report
The facility that achieves 85% substantial compliance for all standards in Modules A, B, C, and D but where one major concern or several minor concerns are identified by the surveyor(s) and/or the AAC will receive a conditional award of one year. The facility will receive a report from the AAC with a list of criteria that need to be addressed in a report by the end of the one-year period. A successful report will result in an additional two years added to the accreditation award term.
